Chantix Update

I started Chantix on Tuesday, March 19th.
I decided to wait until after our St Patty's Day weekend,
and because I was off Monday, the 19th  became day one.

On day 1 of Chantix I didn't feel any different or have any side effects.
On day 2 of Chantix the only side effect I felt was my heart rapidly
beating one time that evening.
On day 3 of Chantix, which was yesterday, my cigarettes officially tasted nasty.
I've had odd dreams, but nothing crazy as most people have reported.

Of course the first 3 days you only take 1 pill per day in the morning.
Today is day 4 so I start taking 2 pills now.
One in the morning & one at night.
I'm guessing once I start the evening pills, I might start having wild dreams.
We'll see!

St Patty's Day

Late recap on our St Patty's Day weekend in Biloxi & New Orleans.
The hubby & I and another couple took a road trip with our first stop being Biloxi, MS.
We stayed at the Grand Casino.

This was our view!

We got there at about 9:30pm, kind of late but NEVER too late
for a casino since they're open 24 hours of course.
So we grabbed a late dinner and hit the slots for the rest of the night.

Saturday we got up early, had breakfast, and I had a quick (free) manicure at the spa.
We then hopped in the car for the 1.5 hour drive to New Orleans.
Before leaving Biloxi, we passed all the floats that were lined up
for their St Patty's Day parade.

The couple that went with us had never been to New Orleans.
So of course we had to take them to Cafe Du Monde first.
I LOVE their beignets & iced coffee!

Taste so good you'll slap your mamma!

After our little snack we walked across the street to Jackson Square.
I love seeing all the artists and street performers here.

Then of course we went on a stroll through French Quarter.

The infamous Hand Grendades of New Orleans.

I am never surprised by the craziness I see on Bourbon Street.

Our last stop in New Orleans was at this Cigar Factory.
The guys loved it.
They both got some type of cognac flavored cigars!

It was definitely a fun weekend getaway.
We didn't come back millionaires, but the
Grand Casino did give hubby & I a free 7 day cruise certificate to
use next year with Norwegian Cruise Line.
We are so excited and decided on a cruise that will be going to
Mexico, Honduras, & Belize!

Today is my Friday!

Tomorrow we are going to Biloxi & New Orleans for the weekend!
I'm excited for our mini vacay, especially since it's
practically free.
The casino sent me coupons for a free room,
$450 in free gaming credit, & $75 free food credit!
And a free cruise to use in 2014 if we come this weekend.
We couldn't pass that up!

So wish us luck!

I'm Quitting!

Yesterday I had an appointment with my regular family physician.
I discussed with her what the OBGYN said and she agreed
with everything of course.

She prescribed my Chantix to quit smoking.
The only major side effect she said she has seen is nightmares.
Although when I googled it I heard about other things like
angry outbursts, fits of rage, sleep walking, suicidal thoughts,
nausea, memory gaps, and nightmares.
I HATE taking medicine. I just don't trust most of it.
But, I gotta quit smoking.

I plan to document my journey of course.
And I plan to stat taking them on Monday the 18th.

I do have one major tip if anyone out there is thinking about Chantix.
Search the internet for coupons.
I could kick myself because after I picked up my prescription
for $240, I found a $75 off coupon!

Wish me luck!

Concerts

Hubby & I decided we were going to start taking advantage of
all the things there is to do in Atlanta more often.
Although we live so close to Atlanta,
we don't go there as often as we should.

The city we're in is pretty boring.
In fact it was voted one of the best retirement cities in GA.
That's not so good for young people who want to
try new things and have fun.

So to start things off, I surprised him with tickets to
go see Alicia Keys next week!
Now, neither one of us are die hard Alicia Keys fans.
I love her music but it wasn't a huge deal if we did/didn't go.
The point  is to get out & enjoy life & experience
different things together!

I'm kind of excited since I'm off that day so
I plan to go get my make-up done and find a cute 'fit (outfit).
Of course yall know they say we can't take cameras in, but I'll
snap some cell phone pics for the blog.

Later on this summer I'm going to
another concert with the girls.
This June we'll be seeing:
New Kids on the Block
Boyz II Men
98 Degrees

NKOTB was my first love!
I went to see them when I was in 6th grade.
My love for them was equivalent to the way young girls love Beiber today.

Boyz II Men was another group I loved in the 90s!
I'm almost certain several people I know had kids early because of their music, ha!

I was never a huge 98 Degrees fan.
However, hubby & I's first dance song was by Mariah Carey & 98 Degrees.
"Thank God I Found You" was our song.
Probably because I love me some Mariah Carey!

I tried to get us tickets to go see Beyonce this summer
but her tickets were a bit overpriced and they sold outquick.
So no Bey for us!

The last concert hubby & I went to was Mariah Carey
and I think that was almost 5 years ago!

What's the last concert you've been to?
And what is the next concert you're going to?

Weekend Recap

Can we get an extra day in the weekend?
Maybe 3 full days off and 4 full work days?
I'd gladly sign a petition for 1 less work day. :)

Friday was our wind down night.
We just sat back & watched some movies
and then I was up all night working on Ancestry.com again.
I'm trying to do as much as possible before
my 14 day free trial expires!

Saturday I woke up with a sore throat and stuffy head.
It was very mild but I felt the funk coming.
So I went for my trusty remedy that ALWAYS works.
Listerine.

Everytime I feel a little cold coming, I gargle Listerine.
You have to gargle it to the point where you're almost choking on it.
I know it sounds gross, but it works!
every.single.time.
I haven't gotten sick in almost 2 years because of this little tip!

for the blog

I don't use this purple one that's pictured though.
I use the blue stuff, with the alcohol in it.
So the next time you're feeling a little sick, try this!
But you must try it as soon as you feel it coming,
not when you're already sick.
(I wasn't asked or paid to write this post- this is my opinion only!)

Saturday night, I went to a "girl's night in" for a friend's 31st birthday.
The plan was to play a few games, have a few drinks, enjoy
some good food and then go out.
Well, 2 Lifetime movies later...it was a wrap.
That channel will suck you in and have you stuck to the couch!

Sunday we hung out at my mom's & relaxed all day.
We did go ahead and reserve our rooms for Panama City Beach.
We're anxious to get down there this summer and all the rooms
are already booking up so fast.
So now we're counting down the days!

First Appointment

Today I have an appointment with a new doctor.
We are officially starting the process yet again, to try & get pregnant.
This doctor was recommended by a friend who tried for several years and after seeing him,
she now has 2 gorgeous little girls.

So please say a prayer for me!

Europe is a go!

Thanks to a very dear friend of mine who lives in Germany,
we have decided on a Eurotrip to Germany, Paris, Amsterdam, & possibly Greece.

for the blog

So we have decided to fly into Germany first.
My friend & her husband live 2 hours from Amsterdam & 4 hours from Paris and
they have offered to let us stay with them and they will drive us to both
Paris & Amsterdam!

And...IF  I can get a few more days off then the 4 of us will also travel to Greece!
*squeeeel!!!*

This is going to save us so much money since now we'll only need a hotel for Greece!
Now we just have to find decent priced plane tickets!

Weekend Recap

Saturday we went to my brother's fiance's baby shower.
There were lots of yummy treats!

They received so many gifts!

Myself, the mother-to-be, & my mom

Grandmother-to-be & mom-to-be

I can see why they tell you not to buy too much before the baby
arrives, because you truly do get SO much at your baby shower!

After the baby shower, hubby & I took a friend out for dinner & drinks at TGIFs.
I LOVE their tropical berry mojito & pot stickers!

I was in the mood to try something different so I ordered the
Korean Tacos.
I hate to say it, but these were awful in my opinion.
I think it was the cilantro (that I asked them to hold but they forgot).

Sunday we went to Lowe's and FINALLY bought some tile
for our kitchen makeover.
This is going to be a long process so there won't
be before & after pics anytime soon!

Week in Review

Nothing much going on this way so I haven't had much to blog.

Here are some snapshots of what's been going on this week.

First, I realized I was allergic to deodorant.
Well actually the aluminum that's in deodorant.
So I've been trying this natural crap which actually works.
The regular stuff causes lumps in my armpits which hurt.
This stuff doesn't, but I feel yucky.
Definitely going to have to find some other natural brand.

$30 for 8 gallons.
I'm ready to start Flintstoning it.

My mom purchased this storage shed.
Hubby is putting it together for her this weekend.
The instruction manual is the size of a phone book.
He's gonna be irate. LOL!

I love Sandy...
But this isn't a good look boo!
When she strained to open that envelope her neck turned into a Shar Pei.

This is a new game I'm playing called
What's the Word.
Addicting but Annoying!

I have spent a lot of time recently on Ancestry.com.
I've found SO much interesting info thanks to many family
members who also use this site.

Below is my1st cousin 4x removed.
Rev Edward Graham Elsey & wife Phoebe and kids.
He was born in 1830 & was a staunch abolitionist that
helped with the Underground Railroad!

Tomorrow I'm going to my brother's fiance's baby shower.
I can't believe she's almost here!
