Lulu & Leo

Have yall read about this story about Lulu & Leo Krim?
They were killed by their nanny on October 25th.
I CANNOT imagine the pain the parents are going through right now.

I have been obsessed with this heartbreaking story.
The nanny apparently says she "was tired of being told what to do...
and she was there to babysit, not clean."
Her failed attempt at suicide means she will surely
spend the rest of her life in prison.

The mom, Marina Krim, kept a family blog called Little Miss Lucia
News reports say they took down the blog, but for some reason I
am still able to view it.
It contains several posts about their regular day to day activities,
birthday parties, vacations, etc.

The family has now set up the Lulu & Leo Fund
in memory of these two precious babies.

Pray for this family!
I know they most certainly need it.

Happy Halloween!

Two posts in one day, you're lucky!

We didn't do anything for Halloween this
year other than decorate the house.
I couldn't find a costume so we skipped out on a Halloween party.
And I am so busy with photoshoots that I have had no time
to go to the local haunted house, hay ride, or pumpkin patches this year.

But hey, I did go to Hawaii so I can't complain!

Day 1 Recap of Hawaii

*long post alert*
Sorry for the delay on the Hawaii Recap posts.
I had to finish editing a wedding as soon as I got back,
start editing a second wedding, & shoot a 3rd wedding!

So, Let's see how close our days were to what I previously
posted in those scheduled posts.

We left Wednesday night for Atlanta since we had an early morning flight on Thursday.
My brother had enough points to get us a free room at the Crowne Plaza! Oooh Fancy!

So day 1 was travel day, from Atlanta to Dallas to Honolulu!
We started our day at 4am by taking our car to Motel 6 for parking.
I used a site called Airport Parking Reservations for this.
It was SO much cheaper than parking it at the airport. We saved over 50%!
And they provided a free shuttle to & from the airport.
If you ever prefer to leave your car at the airport, check  with them first.
This site will let you know if the hotel has 24 hour security, cameras,
shuttle service to the airport, etc.

After arriving at the airport we had about an hour & a half wait for our flight.
Our gate was near the security area so we could watch everyone getting scanned in.
All of a sudden, one TSA employee yells Breach! Breach! Breach!
And then they tell everyone to stop moving.
I mean everyone!

So I whipped out my phone to start recording
because I didn't know what was going on.
I thought maybe there was a terrorist or someone with a bomb!
After about 10 minutes they allowed people to resume moving, a TSA employee on her cell phone points towards us and walks over & asked if I recorded what just happened.
I got nervous as hell and said, uhh just a little but I didn't get much.
And then she just walked away.
Talked about scared!
Apparently this is some type of drill they do every 4 hours so I
guess they didn't want it to end up YouTube!

Anyways....so after this we boarded our flight to Dallas.
In Dallas we had a 4 hour layover.
Hubby & I decided to go outside to smoke & wouldn't you know...
as soon as we go outside they announce they are offering $500
flight vouchers to people willing to give up their seat & be willing to catch the next flight which was an hour & a half later.
My brother text me to tell me this while we were outside so we tried to get back in as fast as we could. Of course we had to go through security again which took forever!
By the time we got in, they had enough volunteers! BOOO!

So we stayed in & had lunch before we boarded the 7+ hour flight to Honolulu.
It was strange arriving at 4:30pm when our bodies were saying, it's 10:30pm est!
Did yall know they don't give you a lei upon arriving in Hawaii anymore?
You have to pay for it and they are $10+ each.
Since the whole point of the trip was for my mom's 60th birthday,
we of course had to make sure she got a lei!

Alamo is not on site at the airport which I thought was crazy, but
at least they provide a free shuttle service.
We rented a hybrid car since we would be in HNL for 3 days before the cruise.
Gas was $4.52 per gallon! But because we had the hybrid, we didn't even have to fill up
before we turned the car back in.

Of course our first destination was the hotel.
We got settled & showered and headed out for dinner.
We ate at a place called  Gyu-Kaku that served raw meat because all the tables had
a fire pit in the middle of them. We just cooked the food ourselves!
I've never eaten at a place like this so it was fabulous!

After dinner we headed to a nearby Karaoke place.
This business had several small & large rooms that you could
rent by the hour. They had rooms for 4 and rooms for 20+.
My mom LOVED it!
I always knew she liked karaoke, but had no idea she loved it this much!

After this we were all pooped & headed back to the hotel. It was 11pm Hawaii time
but it was 5am GA time, meaning we had been up 24 hours!

Stay tuned for day 2 of Hawaii!

I'm Back!

We made it home safely Sunday!
Hawaii was FABULOUS and I took over 1000 pics.

Y'all will have to give me a little time to go through all the images
so I can do a recap of our vacation.
I'll break it down into multiple posts since there is so much to cover!

Last Work Day!

Thirsty?

Last week while at the gas station, a lady in front of me was buying a .69 cent thirst buster (soda).
But ask me how she paid for this drink?
With an EBT (foodstamp) card!

Then after she got her soda, she went to the Redbox & rented a movie with her debit card!

Yes I took a pic of her!

Pffft!!

Birthday Weekend

I had a successful birthday weekend!
The theme of my party was a Wine Exchange as I explained in a previous post
and I now have a full bar of wine (even after we shared several bottles)!

My cake!
Doesn't quite look like the original pic but
good enough & it tasted great.

Just a few of the various wines!

 Brother & I

 Friends

I'm so thankful for the many bottles of wine,
gift cards, cash, LSAT book, & other gifts I received!
These are so comfy!

New shades for Hawaii!

Now I plan to have a ladies night wine exchange party so
I can properly ensure everyone goes home with a bottle this time! :)

Merry Christmas!

I've already ordered & received our 2012 Christmas cards! lol!
Yes I realize it's a little early but it's one last thing I'll have to worry about during the holidays.

I ordered these from Mpix when they were having a sale a few weeks ago!
They have a lot of cute choices and were super easy to order.
I may have to order another set though because I only got 24...
(Actually 25 but I always keep one for myself!)

Have you started shopping for your Christmas Cards yet?

New Favorite Recipe

I stumbled upon this recipe on Pinterest and it is DIVINE!
I love anything with corn so of course I had to try it.
It was super easy to follow & YUMMY as hell!

This recipe comes from Budget Savvy Diva.
It's called "Delicious Cream Cheese Corn."
Yes, you must keep delicious in the title.

Ingredients
1 pound of corn ( fresh or thawed)
1 Tablespoon of butter
3 oz of cream cheese (they sell these in 3oz squares!)
Red Pepper Flakes
Pepper

What To Do
In a medium saucepan combine – corn, butter, and cream cheese.
When it is heated through and cream cheese is
melted, season with pepper and red pepper flakes to taste.

That's it!
No baking.
Directly on your stove top!
I will never buy canned corn again!

7 days til my birthday!

This Sunday will be my 35th Birthday!
Damn I feel old. I tell ya, after you hit 21, time flies.

It's bittersweet.
The age thing doesn't bother me, it's the not having a kid yet that disturbs me.
Is 35 too old to have a kid?
I really thought I'd have 1 or 2 by now, but these damn infertility issues
got in the way of those plans.
I always think about how old I will be when my kid graduates & now I would be 53!
Seriously, is that too old?
I have friends that are 34 with kids that are about to start their freshman year of college!
Yeah they had them very young, so I don't know if I should be jealous or thankful.
This is probably going to have me in a funk all year.

Anyways...enough negative talk...

I am planning a sip & share party for this Saturday.
Bring a bottle of wine to sip on and one to share.
Everyone that brings a bottle to share, leaves with a different bottle.

I picked out this cake so I'm hoping my fabulous baking friend can replicate it!

We'll have appetizers and watch the LSU vs Auburn game so it should be fun!
Geaux Tigers!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was SO exhausting! I shot a wedding in Auburn and it was an allllll day affair.
By the time I got home, my legs were sore, my feet were hurting, & I was tired as hell.
And I have to do it all over again this upcoming weekend as well as two more weddings next month.
I thank God for the business but I am getting too old for this!

I did want to point out the toast the best man made.
The best man said "When selecting a woman there are 3-C's that us guys have. The first C is, is she Cute? The second C is, is she Cool. The third C is, is she Crazy. As long as the answers are yes, yes, & no then you know you got a good one!" HA!
I thought that was hilarious!

I haven't edited this photo yet so this is SOOC (straight out out the camera).

Today we officially have 30 days till Hawaii!
I've got some last minute things to buy & do but I'm saving that for
a guest post I'll be doing on another blog soon. So stay tuned!  :)

Oh & I have to give a shout out to one of my Bff's!
Today is her 34th birthday!

Hubby & my BFF...love these two!

Politics

I don't care what side you're on...this type of behavior is UNACCEPTABLE.
A 16 year old girl named Alyssa Douglas wrecklessly tweeted this last night:

Not only is this illegal...but it's stupid.
Now this girl is going to be paid a visit by the Secret Service or police or both!
Not worth it.

She has now deleted her twitter page but you can search the hastag
above to see the many responses to this tweet.

Weekend Recap

*I forgot to post this Monday!*

One Shoe Can Change Your Life ~ Cinderella

I can't pass up a good shoe sale. Ever.
Even if I have no immediate need or place to wear these, I had to get them.
Both.

The crystals are actually clear, not sure why they look brown in the pic!

In addition to shoes, I re uped on 3 important items from MAC.

VERY important to keep your brushes clean!
I can't tell how much of a difference it makes.

I use this as a primer for eye shadow.
It makes your eye shadow pop in & keeps it on all day, in my opinion!

I have thing about eyebrows.
I hate to see over plucked, too bushy, or poorly shaped eyebrows!
Even with my naturally dark brows, this gives them a more defined look.

But don't go overboard.
Apparently she has no friends, because I don't know who
told her it was ok to post this online.

Happy Labor Day!

I have a 4 day weekend!
No major plans except relaxation.

Now to abruptly change the subject.
Have ya'll seen HONEY BOO BOO?
O.M.G.

This show cracks me up!
I even downloaded the free ghetto fabulous ringtone because it just cracks me up everytime I hear, "Dolla makes me Holla,  Honey Boo Boo!"
I can't believe they are from GA. I really thought they'd say Mississippi or Alabama. (no offense!)
But seriously, if you haven't seen this show, at least watch one episode.
It is shocking, gross, and comical!
