Jewelry Organzation

I am not crafty. I like the idea of the projects and the outcome (that I see online), but the last time I decided to refinish a desk I found on Craigslist, I gave up.

So while in Bed, Bath, & Beyond today I bought a pants hanger similar to this:
I like it because each arm swings out.

I turned that into this:

As you can see I was able to store several necklaces & bracelets.
I don't know if I like it that much yet, but it's much better than storing all that in a jewelry box.

Hawaii Bound!

We have officially booked our trip to Hawaii!
We'll be cruising later on this year.

We decided on Hawaii for my mom's 60th birthday!
We initially had planned to go to Korea but... Korea was just too expensive.
Hawaii's not much cheaper to be honest, but we're hoping we can convince our family in Korea to join us on the cruise. We'll see how that goes.

After our deposit was paid, I officially started doing this in the living room:

I may not have looked as glamorous as the ladies above, but damn it I am excited! lol

This is the ship we'll be on:

Have yall ever cruised before?
I absolutely love cruising!
It will my family's first time but my second.

Back in 2007 I planned a girls trip to Mexico.
We had SO much fun!
From the road trip to Tampa, the cruise itself, Mexico, & the roadtrip home!

So this year we won't be doing too much since we have to save save save!
I don't mind though, it'll be worth it!

Happy New Year!

Happy Asian New Year!
How was everyone's weekend?
It was rainy here all weekend so we didn't do too much.

Friday was our standard Redbox night.
We watched Larry Crowne.
I wouldn't say it was fabulous, but definitely a cute movie to watch.
Who can resist Tom & Julia, right?

Saturday, I booked 2 weddings!
Woo Hoo!
Then we went bowling that night with my brother & his girlfriend.
I love extreme bowling at night!

I haven't been bowling in a while. Usually it's super packed with rowdy teens and overpriced.
We must have gotten lucky because there weren't many teens...but it was still overpriced.
I bowled a solid 100, and hubby bowled his highest score ever of 202.

Hubby thinks it's because of all the Beyonce videos they were playing.
Uh-huh, sure it is! Ha!

Today we ate at Cracker Barrel and I had the grilled pork chops.
I love pork yall but I think I'm gonna have to stop eating it.
It gives me an all day headache everytime.
We ate at 2 and it's now 11pm and my head is still pounding.
If you love pork, then I suggest you never google "reasons not to eat pork."
I think I will give it up in all forms but bacon.
Sorry, I love my bacon!

Have a great week!

Just Because

Ladies, I have to tell ya I'm a lucky woman.
The hubby spoils me with random "just because" gifts from time to time.
Yesterday when he got home from work I was in the kitchen washing dishes,  walked out into the dining room & saw this on the table...

They are my go-to place for gifts.

Hubby said he wanted to get me something just because...sa-weeet!
Inside was this lovely box...
And inside the lovely box was this beautiful bracelet!

He had it engraved with my initials on one side & his on the other!

Thanks hubby!

Extra Extra!!

I submitted an app to be an extra in Tyler Perry's new movie, "Madea's Witness Protection."
Do y'all watch any of his movies?
I personally think they are hilarious and I am so glad his studio is in Atlanta.
It gives people on this side of the US to potentially get a break into acting.

I am crossing my fingers I get picked!
Not sure how my job would feel about it, but I'd just use my vacation time to take days off for filming.

Back in 2003 I was an extra in The Fighting Temptations because part of it was actually filmed locally.
You can't even see me in the movie but it was definitely fun!
In between takes Cuba Gooding Jr kept us enteretained!

Have you ever been in a movie?

Since I was a kid I wanted to be an actress.
I tried to convince my dad to let me be a Mouseketeer, then I wanted to be on Kids Incorporated, & of course I begged him to move us to Beverly Hills. All the above was a no-go! lol!

I doubt I'll ever become a big star but it doesn't hurt to dream right? :)

Weekend Recap

Don't you just love 3 day weekends?

We went to a 30th birthday party, hosted a bbq, went to dinner with friends...
and I didn't take a single picture.
I used to be really good about this, but ever since I started the photography business, personal pics got pushed aside. I've got to get better at that this year.

I'm in the planning process for hubby's birthday. It's on Feb 1st so we'll probably celebrate that Saturday before. He wants to go to the casino in Biloxi, MS but I'm not too sure if that's a good move (financially) because we're saving for a cruise to Hawaii & Vegas for the end of the year. So I really don't want to spend too much from now til then.

Sooo, I am thinking dinner & party in Atlanta maybe?

The only thing I definitely know is that I am going to get him an LSU cake.
Win or Lose, that's his team!
Last night we went to the hubby's parent's house for a "family meeting."
I have some wonderful in-laws I tell ya.
His dad wanted to just talk about what our goals were, what can we do as a family to help each other, and to remind us that family is first and that we've got to communicate. It wasn't a lecture- he just wanted to make sure we were all being smart with our money and planning & saving for the future.
Sometimes a family meeting is needed.
It was a good reminder to let us know they are there for us and that family should be a priority.

MLK

There are so many great quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
One that I like would be:

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."

I for one am thankful for the Civil Rights movement. I hate that it had to even happen but I am glad for those who stood up for what's right. It really makes me mad to see racism. Whether it's against black people, Muslims, Mexicans, etc.

We are all a human race, and that should be all that matters.

One day I hope to visit the National Civil Rights Museum.
I think it would be humbling to see.
