Weekend Recap

Don't you wish we worked Saturday & Sunday and we were off Monday - Friday?

The weekends just zoom by too fast.

Let's see, Friday the hubby & I literally slept the night away. After an exhausting week, we did absolutely nothing. We book woke up at 11pm and went out for doughnuts lol. Whoop whoop! Lots of fun huh?

Saturday I had planned to drive to Atlanta for my friend's twins birthday but I was just too busy doing things for my 1st book club meeting that I just didn't have time. I feel bad but I'll send them a nice gift to make up for it.

The book club went great! I didn't take a single picture though. We sat around the dinner table and just talked about everything the author had gone through in her marriage, what life has been like since her husband's death, and reasons why he and other gay men, would get married to a woman.

It was a very colorful conversation. I had such a great time with the ladies!

After the author left, we stayed up laughing & talking til 2am.

Sunday we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast as usual. Food was delish but something gave me a stomach ache. I was supposed to go to my friend Diem's bridal shower/bachelorette party but due to the stomach ache I slept right through it. I feel TERRIBLE for missing it. But again, I'll make up for it with a fabulous gift!

I also went ahead and ordered the magenta dress.

I got the purple one in Friday and it fits OK. It's kind of snug around the waist but loose on top. And I don't want my girls falling out while I wobble! LOL! So I hope this other dress fits better. I'm not going to send the purple one back until comes in so I can decide which to keep.

I think I'm over Birchbox. Nothing has really thrilled me to be honest.

I think I'll wait for the December box but if there's nothing good, I'm gonna just cancel it.

I finally decided to go ahead and order this dress from Nordstrom's...even though they pissed me off. lol.  I couldn't pass up a good deal. It was 50% off, so good thing I waited! I got it for $74! 

WOOT WOOT!

 

If the above dress doesn't work out, I'm going to order this one below.

Hubby thinks it might be better for dancing anyways, since it's more flowy.

Update on MIL.

She's doing great! In fact, she went right back to work the next day!

Car is in the shop and was damaged pretty bad though. Hopefully it can be repaired.

And I know a lot of you may not be hip-hop fans. But I definitely am.

I was sad to hear about Heavy D passing.

 

He was only 44! 

RIP.

 This weekend is going to be hectic!

I have to go to Atlanta for my friend's kid's 1st birthday party.

Aren't they adorable!

And then rush back to get ready for my first book club that I am hosting that evening!

Our first book is The Upside of the Downlow.

It's a memoir of a pastor's wife.

Turns out her husband was cheating..with women..and men. He then committed suicide.

But it's not about bashing him. It's about how God helped her overcome all of the struggles she went through because of that situation. And, the author is actually coming over! YAY!

I am so proud of Yolanda for writing this. I am sure she went through a lot. I can't even imagine.

But I do know one thing- this could definitely be a Lifetime movie!

In other news, the hubby's mom was in a car accident Monday night.

She was t-boned from the passenger side.Luckily she's ok. She's sore & has whiplash.

We'll find out more after they do additional testing.If you pray, please send a prayer up for my MIL.

And finally, to end this with a laugh...Hubby gave me this and said it reminded him of us because it's half & half ice cream. LOL! Gotta love him!

Weekend Recap

Friday night hubby & I went to dinner at a place called River City Grill. We thought the food must be great because the parking lot is always so full.

The food sucked. 

We both ordered steak which mine was dry (& I ordered it medium well). 

Baked potato was dry.

Corn on the cob tasted like a sock.

How do you mess up corn on the cob?

So when the waiter asked us how it was...
hubby being the good person that he is, said it was ok.

Me being the blunt person that I am, said "actually it was awful."

I did add that I knew it wasn't his fault. But damn it, they need to know the truth!

As we were leaving, we figured out why the parking lot was so full. There was a church behind the place. LOL! Why it's located in a shopping center is beyond me. 

Hubby got sick after dinner. Threw up, started sweating, and was in bed by 10pm.

Yeah, so we won't be going back. Ever.

Saturday of course we were glued to the TV watching LSU v. AL.
I've NEVER seen a game where all the points scored were by field goals only.
But hey, whatever it takes I guess!

 

My brother bought a new car Saturday.

I like her.

She goes reeeeally fast.

Sunday we went Cracker Barrel with a group of friends.

Delicious of course!

The guys watched football at our house and I went to my friend's house to snap some pics of her cute 3 month old baby! I'll post a few pics here soon once I finish editing them.
