The OBGYN basically told me he would feel better if I went to
see an infertility specialist who had more knowledge of helping women
in my situation.
The only one in our area is the same one I saw 5 years ago.
The same guy who told me my only choices were:
IVF ($15k) or having my tubes unlocked ($30k).
I stopped seeing that specialist because of that.
I went back to my primary care physician who put me on 500mg of Metformin.
I ended up getting pregnant TWICE after this.
Although I miscarried both times, it was still bittersweet to know that
fertility specialist was wrong. That I could get pregnant.
Yesteday's OBGYN suggested:
Stop Smoking (so I'm making an appointment with my doctor to get Chantix asap)
Lose Weight (I found a Zumba class that starts late enough for me to attend)
Start taking pre-natal vitamins (will buy some asap)
Have an endoscopy done of my uterus.
He also told me due to my age (35), I have a lot to worry about:
More difficult pregnancy
Child could potentially have health issues
Higher rate of miscarriage
Higher rate of multiples (I wouldn't mind this!)
I tried to call both my primary care physician and the infertility specialist
but both offices were closed for the day.
I will call again today to go ahead and schedule my next appointments asap!
I felt really upset initially but when I got home, I did some googling
and read so many wonderful stories of women who struggled with the same issues,
same road blocks, and the same doubtful answers from doctors.
So many doctors giving such blunt, cold, and hurtful answers to hopeful women.
I really think NO doctor has the final say so.
If God wants you to have a child, you will.
So all I can do is pray about it and leave it in his hands.
