(Part 1 Maui)
Today we arrived in Maui!
When we walked up to the top deck this morning I was just speechless.
Having some breakfast before we started the day of course!
The plan for Maui was to drive the Road to Hana.
It's a long scenic stretch of highway with the most beautiful scenery!
We decided to do this on our own and rent a jeep vs riding in a van with strangers.
When I read the reviews from people on the cruise site,
many people didn't care for the Road to Hana.
But thanks to Google, I found that it was a MUST if you go to Maui.
I loved that Norwegian provided a free shuttle to the rental car companies.
Very convenient!
We decided on a jeep with the top off of course.
I highly recommend THIS website called R2H when planning your trip.
We purchased the CD which gave us an onboard tour guide!
I can't express enough how helpful this was.
It told us where to stop, places to eat, & things to look out for.
It was very accurate!

One of the stops we made thanks to our onboard tour guide!
I told you we wore that hand sign out in Hwaii! lol
My mom got her shoes at TJ Maxx and they were the best walking/beach shoes.
When driving this road you have to be VERY cautious!
There are some parts of the road that are so narrow that only one car can fit.
You will see areas where you have to yield and honk your horn,
because there could be a car coming around the curve.
It was nerve wrecking but still amazing!
My view from the backseat!
Winding roads full of lush tropical trees and flowers!
Our CD instructed us to stop and walk through a mini rain forest.
And we did just that.
My mom LOVED this little nature walk!
I tell ya, for 60, she was moving fast. LOL
My mom may be 60- but she is in better shape than me!
Out of breath!
After our long ass little hike, we were greeted by 2 men who had a truck full of coconuts.
The CD suggested we get one so we did!
The guys had machetes so they sliced the coconuts right open for us!
They then took the flower and sliced us a straw as well.
As you can see below, my mom loved the coconut juice!
I'm smiling but that was the nastiest shit ever!
After you drank all the juice, the guys cut the coconut open a little more and
made us a scoop so we could get the "meat" of the coconut.
Once we were done with the coconuts, we were told to "bowl" coconuts across the street!
We were advised the monkeys and chickens like to much on the left overs.
After our coconut adventure we hopped back in the jeep to our next destination...the waterfalls!
We made another stop when we saw this view though:
The pictures toward the end of this post show where we actually drove down to this beach!
Our red jeep!
The CD told us to go off the beaten path to grab some lunch...so we did!
After our lunch we got back on the road again, and off to the side was this beautiful community of homes on a cliff. I don't know how they got down there, but I am 100% sure they have the best views from there. How lucky!
Below is the beach from the shot I referred to earlier!
After we left this photo-op and we were FINALLY going to heard to the waterfalls,
my mom started acting loopy. She looked lost like she had no idea where she was.
I was asking her if she was alright or if she wanted to go back to the boat,
and she was like, "What boat, let's just go home!"
Of course that worried us, so we decided to head back to the ship.
We also realized she isn't a spring chicken anymore so it may have been the sun since we had
the top off the jeep. So we put it back up, blasted the a/c and headed back.
She slept the entire way so we knew she was exhausted!
Now we have a reason to go back though- to finish the Road to Hana!
Shots I took on the way back:

Your pictures are incredible! I'm so glad you're back to blogging. You are making me want to go to Hawaii bad!!
